It’s time to get those fours up above your heads again, folks, because we’re heading to the final quarter of play in Detroit with your Minnesota Vikings holding a 24-17 lead over the Detroit Lions.
The
Vikings got the ball coming out of the locker room at halftime and pushed out to midfield, but wound up punting it away after a pass from J.J. McCarthy to Jalen Nailor on third down fell incomplete. The Vikings punted it away to the Lions, but the Lions’ offense then put together a three-and-out and gave the ball right back to Minnesota.
After another Vikings punt, David Montgomery looked like he was going to break a huge play on the ground for the Lions, but Blake Cashman chased him down and knocked the ball away, with Harrison Smith recovering the fumble for the Vikings’ first turnover of the game!
The Vikings took advantage of the Detroit turnover, as McCarthy broke out of the pocket to the right, made a move, and found the pylon for a 9-yard touchdown run. That made it 24-14 with six minutes remaining in the third quarter.
The Lions added a 41-yard field goal from Jake Bates just before the end of the quarter, making it 24-17. It looked like the Vikings had gotten a 99-yard kick return for a touchdown from Myles Price, but it was called back by a holding penalty, as is our wont.
First and ten for the Vikings from their own 26 when we come back, with the purple holding a 24-17 lead over the Lions. Can they hold on and get a huge victory? Come hang out with us and find out!
