Following the Cleveland Browns undefeated preseason with a victory over the Los Angeles Rams, HC Kevin Stefanski spoke to the media about where the team is 48 hours in advance of cutdown day. We know that DT Aidan Huntington and QB Shedeur Sanders will make the initial 53-man roster, with Huntington the next in line of Browns UDFA.
The big injury concern coming out of the final preseason game was starting center Ethan Pocic leaving with a knee issue. QB Kenny Pickett remained out of the game with GM
Andrew Berry noting the team is likely to keep four quarterbacks when the initial 53-man roster comes out.
Stefanski noted that Pocic and Pickett should be ready to play in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals. TE Blake Whiteheart is also expected to be healthy for the start of the season, according to Stefanski. DE Julian Okwara is “dealing with a rib injury,” but Cleveland’s head coach didn’t have any more information on the severity.
While the quarterbacks continue to be the bulk of the conversation (including what our Tom Moore described as “daft”), Stefanski is not ready to name a primary backup quarterback.
