You know baseball has truly reached the off-season when top prospect lists start to come out, and Baseball America were one of the first, unveiling their Atlanta Braves Top 10 just yesterday.
While the scouting reports are fully behind a paywall there are still some interesting tidbits for those without an account – including Baseball America’s Best Tools update which has quite a few newly drafted Braves prospects. For example Conor Essenburg, the fifth round draft pick out of 2025, claims the Braves best power hitter, while Briggs McKenzie takes home best curveball, and best changeup. Not surprisingly, Alex Lodise took home best infield arm, and best defensive infielder.
But, back to the list:
- Cam Caminiti
- JR Ritchie
- Didier Fuentes
- Owen Murphy
- Briggs McKenzie
- Alex Lodise
- Lucas Braun
- Garrett Baumann
- Luke Sinnard
- Diego Tornes
To no real surprise – pitching reigns supreme, with 8 of the top 10. Cam Caminiti tops the chart after a sensational 2025 campaign that saw him take on players older than him, and still dominate while just mainly utilizing two pitches. JR Ritchie, after a magical season that saw him work his way from A+ Rome all the way to Triple-A Gwinnett. Didier Fuentes, who found himself in Atlanta sooner than expect last season, sits at #3 overall. The newly drafted Briggs McKenzie finds himself all the way at #5 overall, with fellow draftee Alex Lodise sitting at #6. Garrett Baumann, who added significant velocity and held it over the season, found himself all the way up at #8, while Luke Sinnard found himself right inside the top 10. Rounding out the list was international free agent Diego Tornes who posted a .279/.395/.402 line in 32 games for the DSL Braves in what was mainly his age 16 season.
