WWE star Natalya was the latest guest this week on What’s Your Story? With Steph McMahon. Nattie was primarily there to promote her new memoir titled The Last Hart Beating.
Natalya said she had a difficult time deciding on which stories from her life and career to include in the book, and which to leave out. Her Uncle Bret advised her to focus on writing the book for herself, and to not get preoccupied with what WWE or anyone else thinks about the material in the book. Natalya’s eyes were also opened
this summer when she heard a stoic man like Randy Orton on Steph’s podcast talking about his anxiety and panic attacks. That interview helped Natalya realize the importance of writing about stories that she was previously afraid to discuss.
“For me it’s just so important to be real in the book. I pour my heart out about so many things that I was so scared to tell anyone. And then I was like, but what if somebody reads it, and it could be like a big part of their healing journey?”
While on that topic, Stephanie revealed that she once had a miscarriage. It’s something that people just don’t talk to each other enough about, and it would be helpful from a mental health standpoint for that to change.
“I had a miscarriage at one point, and it’s devastating. And you never really know until you tell someone that you had a miscarriage, and then you find out tons of women that you know who have had miscarriages. And it’s just like something we don’t share, that I think if we did talk about more, it would be helpful. And from a mental health standpoint as well, you know, it’s very hard to go through that. And when you find out that people you love, relate to, look up to…that really, truly, we all have problems. And we’re here to help one another, because at the end of the day, all we have is each other. And kudos to you for being so willing to share, and how cool it is that you are helping people by talking about it.”
