The Chargers announced on Friday that they have completed an interview with former Bengals offensive coordinator and Titans head coach Brian Callahan. Callahan called the offense under Cincy head coach Zac
Taylor from 2019 to 2023. After being hired by Tennessee, Callahan last a little over a year before being ousted by the Titans.
Before calling plays for the Bengals, Callahan spent time coaching quarterbacks for both the Raiders (2018) and Lions (2016-2017). As an offensive assistant with the Broncos from 2013-2015, Callahan was part of the team that won Super Bowl 50.
In Callahan’s first two seasons with the Bengals, they ranked 30th and 29th in points scored, respectively. That 2020 season was Joe Burrow and Tee Higgins’ rookie season where the former played in 10 games and threw for 2,688 yards and 13 touchdowns. Higgins hauled in 67 passes and 908 yards with six scores that year, as well.
