The NFL playoff picture is starting to take shape, and several former Wolverines are part of that picture.
Here are the notable performances from your favorite Michigan alums in Week 10, starting with a second career touchdown for a standout wide receiver.
Roman Wilson scores second touchdown of season
In a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Roman Wilson had two catches for 35 yards and the only touchdown that Pittsburgh scored.
This score made it a two-score game with less than three minutes left, so you could say it was a garbage time score, but it’s still cool to see him making plays after a memorable Michigan career.
After missing all of last season with a high ankle sprain, followed by a hamstring injury, Wilson has caught 11 passes this season in nine games, racking up 149 yards and two scores. The Steelers offense has been below average, but Wilson has carved out a role for himself as a WR2 next to D.K. Metcalf.
J.J. McCarthy throws for 248 yards and a score in loss to Ravens
After missing all of last season with a torn right meniscus and some of this season with an ankle sprain, J.J. McCarthy has returned to the Minnesota Vikings. He didn’t have his best game in a loss on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. While he threw for 248 yards and a touchdown, he completed less than half of his passes and threw two picks.
His one touchdown did make it a one-score game in the final minutes, giving the Vikings a chance for a late comeback that came up just short.
In four games this season, McCarthy has thrown for 692 yards, five touchdowns and six interceptions. The Vikings are 2-2 in games he’s played in, including wins over NFC North foes the Chicago Bears and the Detroit Lions. Out of 37 qualified quarterbacks on Pro Football Focus ($), McCarthy ranks 33rd with an offense grade of 56.1.
In that same game, Vikings safety Josh Metellus had three tackles and a quarterback hit, and Ravens linebacker David Ojabo was credited with a tackle.
Charbonnet shines again
In a win over the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet rushed for 83 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown. He also had a long of 30 yards.
Much to the dismay of several Kenneth Walker III fantasy owners, Charbonnet has scored six touchdowns — twice as many as the former Spartan — and has racked up 313 yards. He’s become a reliable red zone back for a Seahawks team that will be a tough out in the playoffs.
Other notable performances
-In a win over the New York Giants, Chicago Bears tight end Colston Loveland had four catches for 55 yards, including this sick grab.
This came after Loveland was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week after racking up 118 yards and two scores, including the game-winning touchdown, in last week’s win.
-In a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins caught seven passes for 136 yards, a single-game season-high. The third round pick has caught 40 passes for 550 yards and three scores, with a PFF grade (77.6 offense grade) that rankes 20th among 127 wide receivers.
-In a win over the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams running back Blake Corum rushed for 56 yards on 13 carries. In that same game, defensive lineman Josiah Stewart was credited for two tackles.
-With head coach Dan Campbell calling the plays, the Detroit Lions looked dominant again. Behind Graham Glasgow and the Lions offensive line, Detroit rushed for 226 yards and two scores while also allowing zero sacks in a blowout win over the Washington Commanders.
In that same game, Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson logged a pass defensed and a quarterback hit, and Commanders cornerback Mike Sainristil racked up eight tackles.
-In a win over the Atlanta Falcons in Berlin, Indianapolis Colts defensive lineman Kwity Paye racked up two tackles.
-In a loss to the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns linebacker Devin Bush made five tackles, including a tackle for loss. Currently on a one-year, $3.25 million deal, Bush has likely earned himself a raise; on PFF, he’s ranked seventh out of 82 linebackers (81.1 defense grade).
-In a loss to the New England Patriots, guard Ben Bredeson left the game after three snaps after suffering a hamstring injury. Hopefully we get to see him back on the field again soon.
-In a win over the Carolina Panthers, guard Cesar Ruiz was part of a New Orleans offensive line that helped the Saints rush for 122 yards, with the unit giving up two sacks.
-In a win over the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football, Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Joshua Uche was credited with a tackle. In that same game, Packers pass rusher Rashan Gary had four tackles.
