D’Angelo Ponds starred as Indiana’s top cornerback these past two seasons as the program rose from Big Ten bottom dweller to national champion under head coach Curt Cignetti.
Ponds played for Cignetti at James Madison prior to the latter taking the Indiana job and elected to join him through the transfer portal. He was Indiana’s No. 1 corner from day one in Bloomington, matching up with the Big Ten’s best wide receivers every Saturday and winning matchups far more often than not.
He showed a relentless
work ethic on and off the field with a dedication to film study and practice work combined with ceaseless effort on gamedays. One topic kept coming up for Ponds once NFL Draft buzz started building in 2024: his height.
Most top cornerbacks, especially those who play outside, stand at around 6’0. Ponds was listed at 5’9” at Indiana and got officially measured at the combine:
- Height: 5’8.5”
- Weight: 182 lbs
- Arm: 29 38”
- Wingspan: 72 1/4”
Our advice after having watched Ponds for two seasons? Don’t overthink it. He’s a good football player. Teams should draft good football players. Teams should draft D’Angelo Ponds.
