Ahead of the Seattle Seahawks’ most important game of the young 2026 season, the team got some welcome good news about defensive lineman Leonard Williams.
The veteran anchor of the Seahawks’ front, who was battling an ankle injury he suffered last week, has no game designation for Week 5, meaning Williams is good to go against the rival San Francisco 49ers. The lack of a designation is a tad bit surprising considering Williams was limited in practice on Wednesday and was held out completely on Thursday.
Yet that might have been a precaution to get Williams extra rest, as the Seahawks have a short week after playing the 49ers. Williams and the return of safety Ty Okada, who also did not have an injury designation, will be a massive boost for the Seahawks defense that is hoping to slow an undefeated 49ers offense.
Seattle also got positive news on special teamer Irv Charles, who had his designation changed from out to questionable on Friday. He would have to be placed on the 53-man roster in order to play.
On the more negative side of the news, the Seahawks will be without running back Zach Charbonnet, and fellow back George Holani is questionable with rib and ankle injuries. Seattle will need to lean on Emmanuel Wilson and newly acquired Robert Henry Jr. to tote the ball against San Francisco.
Cornerback Julian Neal and linebacker Chazz Surratt were also ruled out. Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said Neal, a key depth piece, was hurt during practice. The injury to Neal will leave the Seahawks short in the secondary and could mean an elevation of cornerback Trevon Diggs for the second week in a row.
After a week of worrying, the Seahawks appear to have staved off the serious injury bug for another week. Seattle will showdown with their NFC West rivals at 1:25 p.m. on FOX.
