Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers originally requested a trade prior to the start of the 2025 season and since tensions have seemingly grown with the Raiders reluctant to extend Meyers. A year after posting 87
receptions, 1027 yards, and four touchdowns along with leading the NFL in contested catches Meyers has only posted 29 receptions, 329 yards, and 0 TD. Meyers ranks inside the top 20 for the NFL in both receptions and yards, while also ranking 15th in separation among all NFL wide receivers and tight ends. A report from Dianna Russini stated the Raiders are receiving calls on Meyers and open to moving him. This comes just days after another report indicated the Raiders are receiving calls on Meyers and could look to move him. The Raiders trading Meyers will only make sense if the team doesn’t plan to extend Meyers following this season. As of now, the projected compensatory selection the Raiders would receive, in 2027, for the loss of Meyers is a 4th round pick as he’s projected a 3 year, 55 million extension this coming winter.
Note: While likely the Raiders move Meyers for a flat pick, the goal I wanted was to try and find potential player for player trades that the Raiders could explore. It’s likely if the Raiders move Meyers I’d imagine the compensation is a 2026 4th and 2027 5th for Meyers and a 2027 6th.
New England Patriots:
Raiders receive: ILB Marte Mapu, 2026 6th round pick
Patriots receive: WR Jakobi Meyers
Map logged 204 snaps his rookie season with the Patriots before 487 in 2024, with the Patriots hiring of Mike Vrabel Mapu has seen his snaps fall to 39 in 5 games as free agent additions Jack Gibbens, Christian Elliss, and Robert Spillane take majority of the teams snaps. The former Sacramento State product has made a successful transition to ILB where the soon to be 26 year old has logged 67 tackles, 3 INT, 8 PBU, and 4 FF in his first three seasons. Additionally, Mapu has allowed just 364 yards, a TD, and a 74.7 QBR off 32 receptions on 45 targets. Mapu has an imposing frame at 6’3, 230 with elite athletic traits. He plays the run well and is a solidified coverage LB. The Raiders could look to explore additions at ILB where they lack young talent. As for the Patriots, Jakobi Meyers obviously has a connection having spent his first four seasons with the Patriots and Josh McDaniels before falling McDaniels to the Raiders. The Patriots have quality receivers with Stefon Diggs and Kayshon Boutte both posting over 300 yards, however they could explore another addition to upgrade off Mack Hollins and Pop Douglas.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
Raiders receive: EDGE Jack Sawyer, 2025 6th round pick
Steelers receive: WR Jakobi Meyers, 2025 5th round pick
The Steelers may be hesitant to part with Sawyer who the team selected in the 4th round of the 2025 draft but with TJ Watt, Alex Highsmith staying consistent as top pass rushers while Nick Herbig develops into a quality third option the Steelers have a tough path ahead for Sawyer who’s logged just 100 snaps in 7 games. Through 6 games, the rookie from Ohio State has logged 7 pressures, a 13.8% win rate, one sack, 4 stops, 15 tackles, 2 TFL, and 4 QB hits along with 2 PBU. Sawyer has been highly productive through his limited time but with Herbig remaining a high end third pass rusher snaps could be hard to come by and the Steelers may look to use him to grab a strong receiving threat. The Raiders have a need at EDGE in the future with Malcolm Koonce struggling at times to find consistency and Tyree Wilson ending up as the teams third pass rusher. Las Vegas could look to add more pass rush juice along with finding a potential fit for the future. For the Steelers, DK Metcalf has posted 406 yards with no other Steelers receiver having recorded more than 150 yards. The Steelers have an extreme need at receiver and with Meyers likely the best option on the market, it’s a match that makes sense for both sides.
New York Giants:
Raiders receive: SAF Dane Belton, 2025 5th round pick
Giants receive: WR Jakobi Meyers
The Giants have seen some consistency at the receiver position with Wan’Dale Robinson showcasing a strong season but after the injury to Malik Nabers, New York is seeing limited production from the rest of the room featuring Darius Slayton, Lil’Jordan Humphrey, and Jalin Hyatt. Meyers would slot in likely as the Giants top receiving option for rookie QB Jaxson Dart providing a secure safety blanket at receiver. The Giants selected Belton in the 4th round of the 2022 draft and the former Iowa product has logged 400 snaps in 2022, 300 in 2023 and 460 in 2024 serving as the teams third safety with spot starts sprinkled in. Through his time he’s logged 146 tackles, 5 TFL, 2 sacks, 5 interceptions, 13 PBU, and 2 FF. In addition, Belton has posted 20 stops and allowed an 86.2 QBR (59/82, 655 yds, 3 TD) providing some skills as a coverage and run defending safety. The 6’1/205 safety is just 25 years old and in line to be a free agent after this season which would cause for the Giants to potentially flip him for receiving depth. Belton fits the Raiders requirements at DB while also having positional versatility to play SS, FS, and some NCB. Isaiah Pola-Mao has struggled immensely for the Raiders after transitioning to FS which has limited the Raiders ability to run coverages other than cover 3. Belton would provide the Raiders with the ability to run more traditional coverages down the stretch while also putting Pola-Mao back at SS.
Buffalo Bills:
Raiders receive: EDGE Javon Solomon, 2025 6th round selection
Bills receive: WR Jakobi Meyers
The Bills have seen production from Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, and Josh Palmer all having north of 200 yards this season however the Bills still seem to be in the market for another veteran receiving option which Meyers would provide. Teams tracing for a potential Super Bowl need to have a reliable core of receiving options, and Meyers continues to provide more depth for Buffalo down the stretch while also likely headlining the group in 2026 as well. Solomon was the Bills 2024 5th round pick out of Troy and in his two seasons the 25 year old has posted 19 pressures, 9 stops, 3 sacks, 17 tackles, 4 TFL, 9 QB Hits, and a forced fumble. Similar to the Steelers and Jack Sawyer, the Raiders could be looking for more youth along the DL with Solomon providing strong traits at EDGE with quality run defense and good showings of twitch and bend off the EDGE. The Bills have a plethora of pass rushers with Joey Bosa, Greg Rousseau, AJ Epenesa all logging north of 100 pass rush attempts. In addition, the team spent a 3rd round pick in 2025 on Arkansas pass rusher Landon Jackson who’s only logged 28 snaps this season. The Raiders add more juice on their defensive line which could use youth with upside and Buffalo opens a lane for Jackson while also adding another proven pass catcher.
Atlanta Falcons:
Raiders receive: EDGE (Dr.) Arnold Ebiketie – yes he has a PhD
Falcons receive: WR Jakboi Meyers, 2025 6th round pick
A flat player for player trade, similar to the Ravens/Chargers swap that sent Alohi Gilman for Odafe Oweh, the Falcons could look to upgrade their receivers especially with Ray-Ray McCloud being a healthy inactive and likely on the way out. Darke London has been a standout for Atlanta but they have not seen another receiver break 100 yards with Bijan Robinson and Kyle Pitts being 2nd and 3rd on their roster in yards. 2nd year QB Michael Penix Jr has looked great this season and the Falcons are sitting at 3-2 in a race for a wild card spot and an outside shot at the NFC South title (assuming the Bucs have a weird very unlikely collapse). The Falcons need to add another receiving threat, and Meyers is a phenomenal fit in their offense stemming from a system similar to the Raiders and Patriots where Meyers has thrived most. The Falcons selected Ebiketie in the 2nd round of the 2022 NFL draft and is slated to be a free agent after this season. Through four seasons Ebiketie logged 106 tackles, 13 TFL, 36 quarterback hits, 14.5 sacks, 5 PBU, and four forced fumbles. In addition, Ebiketie has posted 98 pressures, a 13.7% win rate, and 54 stops through over 1500 snaps. The Falcons have seen Leonard Floyd and Zach Harrison provide a ton of production at EDGE this season while rookies James Pearce and Jalon Walker have started to push Ebiketie out, where he’s logged just 113 snaps this season. The Falcons could look to flip Ebiketie who’s seen a dip in snaps and production this season for Meyers, with the Raiders also likely adding their 2nd best pass rusher with Ebiketie who can provide a quality boost at pass rusher.
