We heard the news that Brandon Codrington was added to the practice squad. According to Matt Maiocco, three other players have officially been added:
Vincent Anthony Jr.
Foster Sarell
Kevin Givens
Anthony Jr. was an undrafted free agent from the 2026 class. He played for the Chiefs in the preseason. Listed at 6’6″, 250 pounds, Anthony Jr. played edge rusher, but also covered kicks. That versatility likely made him an intriguing add. Anthony Jr. recorded three stops and a pressure on 55 preseason snaps.
Athletically, Anthony Jr has elite height (93rd percentile), arm length (76th percentile), and broad jump (83rd percentile).
Sarrell has been in the NFL since 2021. The former Stanford Cardinal played left tackle for the Broncos this past preseason.
He spent the previous four seasons with the Chargers, playing nearly 500 snaps. Last season, he played 161 snaps at right guard and another 14 at left tackle. He played 16 snaps at left tackle in 2024. In 2023, Sarell played right tackle in the regular-season finale. The year prior, he started three games at right tackle.
Needless to say, he’s played all over. Sarrell is 6’6 1/2″ and 320 pounds, adding good size to the practice squad.
Kevin Givens needs no introduction. It’s a bit surprising the 49ers aren’t looking elsewhere or for a potential upgrade. Givens, 29, has been with the team in some capacity since 2019.
Familiarity goes a long way. Maybe Givens’ health is no longer in question, and he can give the offense a better look than what’s currently on the roster, helping simulate some of the Rams’ undersized defensive tackles in practice.
Here is the 49ers practice squad:
OT – Isaac Alarcon
TE – Khalil Dinkins
LB – Jalen Graham
WR – Wesley Grimes
WR – KhaDarel Hodge
RB – Sincere McCormick
OL – Drake Nugent
DL – Ogbo Okoronkwo
WR – Will Pauling
CB – Jakob Robinson
S – Jalen Stroman
DL – Sebastian Valdez
LS – Jon Weeks
EDGE – Vincent Anthony Jr.
OL Foster Sarell
DT Kevin Givens
That leaves one spot remaining.
