The Seattle Seahawks lost a few people to the Minnesota Vikings’ reshaped front office, and while they’ve made a few promotions to fill voids left behind by their departures, they’re on the hunt for new faces. In this case, this “new” face is a familiar one dating way back to the 1990s.
Eric Stokes, a former safety who was drafted by the Seahawks in 1997 and spent over a decade of his post-playing career with Seattle, has been brought on board as a West Coast scout. NFL insider Aaron Wilson reported
this addition on Wednesday.
Stokes was most recently with the Washington Commanders as senior director of player personnel. During his time in Seattle, Stokes was a scout, pro personnel assistant, and was assistant director of college scouting during the first two seasons under John Schneider. He eventually left to be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers director of college scouting, a role he later served with the Carolina Panthers. His stint as Miami Dolphins assistant GM was from 2014 to 2015.
When the Commanders hired Stokes in 2020, the news release said, “Stokes was instrumental in bringing in defensive standouts safeties Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor, linebacker Bobby Wagner and cornerback Richard Sherman.”
By the way, this Eric Stokes has no relation to current Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Eric Stokes.
Welcome back, Eric!
