Bayern Munich has seen the rumors and knows that clubs like Liverpool, Manchester City, and FC Barcelona have all been linked to a move for star winger Michael Olise.
The aloof Frenchman has been a sensational
addition to the Bayern Munich attack since his arrival in 2024, compiling 25 goals and 29 assists in 65 games across all competitions (including five goals and six assists in 10 games this season).
While a talent like Olise can be difficult to retain, Bayern Munich is reportedly confident in its ability to keep the winger per Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (via @iMiaSanMia):
Michael Olise feels very comfortable in Munich and has an excellent relationship with Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies, in particular. Despite interest from several top clubs, such as Manchester City, the Frenchman is not expected to agitate for a move any time soon. Bayern, on their part, will do everything to keep Olise at the club in the long-term.
Olise will — undoubtedly — be a popular figure on the transfer market next summer and will get offers. However, he might be the perfect type of weirdo for Bayern Munich. Gloriously skilled, ruthlessly efficient, and brilliantly productive, Olise has exceeded all expectations, but his best asset — in this case — might be that he just does not care.
At least on the surface, he does not appear to be a guy who needs the shine of the Premier League or the status of playing for FC Barcelona or Real Madrid. He might just be happy wearing lederhosen a few days a year and hanging out with his buddies — Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies, who are both in Bavaria for the long haul.
Hey…it is not such a bad place to be, right?
Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show: Season 5, Episode 11
Bayern Munich’s news cycle is off the charts even during this international break. That said, we have some intertwining news to discuss between club and country, plus some other interesting topics on the agenda. Check out what we have on the latest edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:
- Is the only thing standing between a return to the German national team for Manuel Neuer, pride? Is it a longstanding beef with Julian Nagelsmann? Let’s discuss.
- Bayern Munich to play Bundesliga games outside of Germany? That does not seem like it would go over well.
- Some news odds and ends — FC Barcelona still owes Bayern Munich 20M for Robert Lewandowski. Daniel Peretz to terminate his loan with Hamburger SV? Bayern Munich confident with Michael Olise. Kingsley Coman blames Max Eberl for his exit.
- Reviewing HBO’s Task.
Song of the Week: “Holiday in Cambodia” by The Dead Kennedys
It has been a run of punk for me lately and delving back into the early 80s, which led me to The Dead Kennedys. Enjoy this throwback to 1982. While the sound has aged, I ran into this a few years after its release (more toward the back end of the 80s):
Bavarian Podcast Works — Flagship Show: Season 8, Episode 14
Bayern Munich might be off, but the news cycle surrounding the club is red-hot.
There are some big items to discuss, so let’s not waste any time. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show:
- Did Harry Kane throw some cold water on the thoughts of a contract extension with Bayern Munich? As it turns out, the Bavarians might not want to pay him anyway.
- Is Max Eberl in line for a promotion with Bayern Munich? Would it be too much for him to take on.
- Hot or Not? Harkening back to some nonsense from the beginning of the internet, let’s determine an early prediction on which Bayern Munich players will be back for 2026/27.
Entertainment Rundown
Task
Episode 5
HBO’s Task has been excellent and has delivered everything I hoped it would. Let’s get into it:
- We really started to see the plot push its way toward a conclusion.
- The Dark Hearts are closing in on Robbie. The FBI has already have him in their crosshairs and the show is about to hits its climax.
- Finding out the task force leak was…interesting. One of the great twists and turns of the series was finally revealed and now the audience will get to see what kind of fallout comes from it — and it was wholly unexpected.
- The only worry here is that it all wraps up nicely. The show has been so good that sometimes it can be hard to believe that there can be a worthy conclusion.
- We have mentioned that suffocating feeling of everything starting to collapse around Robbie and this episode was a perfect example of it.
- Overall, this episode full delivered on everything that you would hope. Some folks might not like the fast pacing of the series, but there is not a second of screen time wasted and extremely little filler — and that is what makes the show so rich. Every detail is intricate and means something. Every line can be something that gives you greater knowledge of a plot-point or a nugget from the past. This show has been excellent.

Sports Armageddon has taken me out
Pain…all I know is pain.
Thursday night was supposed to be fun. It was supposed to be great…but you know what it really was? Excruciating devastation.
The Phillies? They could not hit the broad side of a barn and had a mental error end their great run season. You know what Randy Newman? I don’t love LA…at least not this week. This was supposed to be “the year”, but now it is just another footnote of failure for the losingest (new word) franchise of all time.
The Eagles? Haha. They got embarrassed by the lowly, archrival Giants and could be on their way to a full unraveling — and potentially being exposed as fraudulent.
The Flyers? Season opener! Another loss. So much for the promise of a new day! It’s still ridiculously early in the season, but this was just an extra kick in the junk.
The Sixers? Ah hell, they can just stay in Abu Dhabi, we already know how this ends even in a season where there are no powerhouse teams in the NBA’s Eastern Conference.
Anyone have a new hobby I should take up?
Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show: Germany vs. Luxembourg and Northern Ireland
The Germany national team is up once again and has two very winnable matches on its slate for the October international break against both Luxembourg and Northern Ireland.
Julian Nagelsmann will not be operating with a full roster thanks to injuries and illnesses, but this should give him a chance to further make his mind up on several players who are on the bubble for the 2026 World Cup.
Let’s get into all of the key discussions. This is what we have on tap for this version of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show:
- Taking a look at the latest roster for Germany, including the illnesses that have recently felled some key players.
- What positional battles should we keep an eye on?
- Is Julian Nagelsmann going to end up on the hot seat because he tinkers too much?
- Is Nico Schlotterbeck going to take this time to seize a starting role?
- Predictions on each match.
