The Cleveland Browns will be interviewing two in-house candidates for their head coaching position on Thursday as the team’s head coach search gets rolling along. The NFL rules and schedule
provide a lot of limitations that will likely extend most coaching decisions a few weeks. With John Harbaugh all of a sudden on the market, and the chance that a coach or two who lose in the first round of the NFL playoffs could join him, the delay works out for almost everyone. Many have pegged Harbaugh for the
New York Giants job, but there are reasons the Browns could remain of interest to Harbaugh. At this point, the long-time Baltimore Ravens head coach is going to take his time before even setting up interviews with teams:
It will be interesting to see if Harbaugh drags his feet while teams are running interviews with other candidates. Any delay beyond next week could lead to teams pivoting to the candidates already on the list. For Cleveland, if Harbaugh is interested in coming on board, almost any delay will be acceptable.
