Dillon Danis will not be defending his Misfits MMA title later this month.
Danis was scheduled to defend his light heavyweight title against Anthony Taylor at Misfits Mania on Dec. 20 in Dubai; however,
on Friday, Misfits announced Danis has been forced out of the event due to a medical issue stemming from his altercation at UFC 322 last month.
“Unfortunately, Dillon Danis will not be competing at “The Fight Before Christmas” event in Dubai on December 20, 2025.
“Independent physicians have determined that he is not medically cleared to compete at this time due to the melee that occurred at Madison Square Garden last month.
“We want to be very direct: this call is being made solely by medical professionals. Dillon pushed for everyb possible path to remain on the card, but the doctors were not willing to clear him to compete this month.
“Misfits Boxing takes athlete health extremely seriously, and we fully expect him back in the Misfits ring in 2026 to defend his Misfits MMA title.”
Danis was a central figure in a brawl that broke out in the crowd during UFC 322 and was subsequently banned from attending future events by UFC CEO Dana White as a result. There’s no word at this time on what medical issue is preventing him from competing.
Misfits Mania: The Fight Before Christmas is headlined by a boxing match between Andrew Tate and Chase DeMoor, and also features former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson.
