The Washington Commanders training camp rolls on for Day 12 in Ashburn, VA. This is their first real practice since before they hosted the Dolphins on Friday night.
Head coach Dan Quinn spoke to reporters before the start of today’s practice. Nick Allegretti and Drew Stevens are scheduled for Q&As after practice, along with players getting interviewed on the field.
Dan Quinn talked about some of the roster moves and injuries that were announced today. Running back Jerome Ford suffered a hamstring injury
during the game and was placed on injured reserved, ending his season with Washington. Quinn said this gives rookies Kaytron Allen and Robert Henry Jr. an opportunity to step up and earn more time. Both players scored touchdowns in the NFL debuts, and they seem to be motivating each other, as Fatman noted when Henry scored first.
Dan Quinn won’t commit to whether Jayden Daniels will play any snaps during the preseason, but it sure sounded like we would only be seeing Sam Hartman and Athan Kaliakmanis the rest of the way with Marcus Mariota sidelined. He noted that Daniels had gotten a lot of snaps in during the joint practice with the Dolphins, and he would be getting more this week with Mariota not practicing. Observers at today’s practices reported that Daniels was working more with the 2’s today, and getting more reps than during a regular practice. Daniels only played one series last preseason.
