Bayern Munich has secured the long-term future of one of their most promising young defenders.
The club agreed to a long-term contract extension with Germany Under-19 international Cassiano Kiala. The 17-year-old defender joined the FC Bayern campus from Hertha Berlin in the summer of 2024 and made his first-team debut under Vincent Kompany in Bayern Munich’s 4–0 win over Heidenheim last December.
Sporting director Christoph Freund was thrilled to solidify the future of one of the club’s most prized
defensive prospects.
“We have high hopes for Cassiano and want to gradually integrate him into our first team. He’s the second-youngest player to make his debut in the history of the FC Bayern first team, has already taken on responsibility as captain of the Germany Under-17s, and has everything it takes to carve out a career at FC Bayern. He was hampered by injuries last season – now we’re looking forward to taking the next steps with him,” said Freund in a release from FCBayern.com.
After injuries interrupted his development last season (Kiala missed 30 games and 159 days of action due to a syndesmotic ligament tear), Bayern Munich clearly believes Kiala has the talent and mentality to become an important part of the first-team squad.
Kiala’s future at Bayern Munich looks extremely promising.
