Fight week is already at full speed in Las Vegas, Nevada for the highly-anticipated WBC Welterweight title fight between division king, Ryan Garcia, and British slugger, Conor Benn, who will throw down this Saturday (Sep. 12, 2026) inside T-Mobile Arena streaming live on Paramount+.
But while Benn is keeping up with his media obligations, Garcia seems to be taking a more lackadaisical approach to fight week so far. The two men were scheduled to take part in their first fight week staredown but “King
Ry” decided to leave “The Destroyer” hanging high and dry.
“Well guys, I apologize for Ryan doing what Ryan does and bottling it. We turn up, we’re here, ready for the face-off,” he said. “He needs to get his shit together because come Saturday, he’s going to be in for a big, big shock.”
So what exactly was Garcia doing? Per a post on his Instagram social media account he was having a nice relaxing time playing video games.
“Nice relaxing time as Conor wastes time showing up to a face off,” write Garcia as he posted a picture of himself relaxing playing an NBA video game. “Back to the sauna you go, sausage getting cooked every way,” he concluded.
While Garcia has shown to be somewhat of a loose cannon at times, it’s the first time he doesn’t show up to his fight-week obligations. But, it seems the WBC Welterweight champion of the world is looking to play mind games (again) in his first-ever title defense against a very formidable foe. But will it cost him come fight night?
