I have a feeling that I’ve left a postgame note like this multiple times in 2025, but the best course of action for last night’s win—for our collective sanity—is to conclude “Yes, it did indeed end in a win, nothing more to say about it!” Because boy did it get dumb. No matter what, it put the Yankees a smidge closer to hosting playoff games rather than needing to travel for a Wild Card Series.
It’s a lighter schedule today on the site! But there’s still baseball to discuss of course. Peter will do
his At-Bat of the Week on exactly the at-bat that you’re probably thinking about, Madison will cover the Rivalry Roundup as the playoff races around the majors heat up, and Matt will look back at a ballgame that the 2000 Yankees would probably prefer us not to remember. The Diary does not skip entries, though! Apologies in advance to Denny Neagle and company.
