Shawn Michaels’ boyhood dream came true at WrestleMania XII when he defeated Bret Hart to win the WWE Championship. Nearly 30 years later, one fighter fulfilled his boyhood dream by recreating Michaels’ iconic entrance from that night.
Latvia’s Francis Rozentāls made his way to the cage by zipline — Heartbreak Kid–style — ahead of the main event of BAZARA 0 Fight Club III against Kristaps Zutis last Saturday. He entered to Michaels’ legendary theme song, “Sexy Boy,” punctuating his descent with crotch
chops and poses as he arrived in style.
Footage circulating online captured women in the crowd giggling and cheering, a fitting throwback to Michaels’ days as WWE’s heartthrob.
As for the fight, Rozentāls appeared to have more trouble getting out of his harness than putting away Zutis. Near the end of the first round, Rozentāls — competing in jeans — dropped Zutis with a big right hand.
As the referee began the count, Rozentāls thrust his hips in Zutis’ face before walking away and posing. He went on to win by knockout in the second round. The finishing blow, however, wasn’t Michaels’ famed Sweet Chin Music, but an overhand right.
BAZARA 0 Fight Club is a Latvia-based combat sports promotion that showcases a variety of fighting styles. The Rozentāls–Zutis bout was billed as a “Fist Fight,” with other contests on the card labeled Kick or Mixed Fight.
