Jake Paul is not happy that Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) announced Conor McGregor’s comeback fight during Saturday’s “Rousey vs. Carano” fight card on Netflix and he’s letting them know all about it.
The news about McGregor’s comeback fight was only a matter of time. Rumors have swirled over the past few weeks that McGregor will face Max Holloway at UFC 329 on July 11 in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the promotion’s International Fight Week. Many thought UFC CEO, Dana White, would be petty with rolling
out the McGregor news and actually wait to announce it until Saturday night to spoil Paul’s MMA event that included former UFC superstars like Ronda Rousey, Francis Ngannou, and Nate Diaz.
Well, that’s exactly what White did as he announced McGregor vs. Holloway 2 live on his stream right around the same time Ngannou was walking out to the cage on Netflix for his fight against Philipe Lins. There’s no way White didn’t know the timing of his announcement and that it would interfere with what was happening at the Rousey vs. Carano event.
Luckily for Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), Netflix’s official MMA rollout went down without a hitch. Rousey won, Ngannou won, and the undercard produced some crazy finishes in front of a wild crowd in Los Angeles. All parties involved couldn’t have asked for a better turnout, but that still doesn’t make the McGregor fight news an easy pill to swallow.
Paul’s reaction at the post-fight press conference can be seen below:
“The coke head is back,” said Paul. “Drop it during our event, doesn’t matter. That just shows how pressed they are.
“Little insecure boys trying to piggyback off our event and try to put some news overtop of us. It’s not going to work, buddy.”
