Former Real Madrid forward Gonzalo García has made an impressive start to life at Fulham, scoring twice in his first two appearances for the London club. The 22-year-old joined Fulham this summer in a deal worth €40 million, with Real Madrid retaining a 30% sell-on clause.
Born and raised in Madrid, García came through Real Madrid’s academy before being promoted to the first team last season. His move to Fulham made him one of the club’s most lucrative sales of an academy graduate.
García opened his
Fulham account against Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea. It was Alonso who first gave him an extended opportunity with Real Madrid’s senior side at the 2025 Club World Cup, where the striker emerged as one of the tournament’s breakout performers. His goal against Chelsea was not enough to earn Fulham any points, however, as they suffered a 3-2 home defeat in their Premier League opener.
Fulham’s fortunes improved in the second round of the Carabao Cup, where they cruised to a 3-0 victory over Wimbledon. García was on the scoresheet again, producing a composed finish after rounding the goalkeeper before putting the ball into the net.
Two games into his Fulham career, García has two goals to his name.
