The Los Angeles Rams are opening the 21-day practice window for Keagen Trost and Sean McVay believes that the rookie tackle could be available as soon as Sunday. Now, Trost gets the chance to come off IR, if he’s healthy enough, and make the active roster. If Trost isn’t ready within that timeframe, he’ll go on IR for the rest of the season.
Sean McVay expects Trost to suit up for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals barring any setback. That’s great news for the rookie third-round pick who’s
been hurt since the preseason.
It’s also great timing for the Rams who need depth at their tackle position with Alaric Jackson’s suspension.
Trost was a fairly touted college prospect, and that’s reflected in his Day 2 selection by L.A. Part of his high selection is Trost has the experience and versatility that can allow him to play as a rookie and help the Rams in 2026. He also has the potential to develop at the NFL level like any player does.
If Trost sees game action this year, then he’ll be doing both: Getting experience now, and developing for the future. As long as he can stay healthy.
At this point, if a player is suiting up for the Rams, they have the potential to play. McVay said after the latest loss to the Buffalo Bills that all options were on the table.
If Trost can stay healthy, he’ll be one of those options for the Rams. Perhaps he’ll be an option to bolster the blocking on their field goal unit.
All options on the table.
