What is the story about?
The
Mariners won a barn-burner in St. Louis yesterday and look to Emerson Hancock to secure a sweep at 11:15.
Happy Sunday everybody!
In Mariners news…
- The Mariners pulled off a win yesterday in a back-and-forth slugfest that was capped off by Leo Rivas getting to be the hero with a 2-run single in the ninth, a moment that the entire Mariners dugout was very excited to celebrate.
- The writers at Viva El Birdos are looking forward to the Mariners getting out of St. Louis.
Around the league…
- The Boston Red Sox have floundered to start the season and decided to bust out Old Reliable yesterday, firing manager Alex Cora, and five other members of the coaching staff. Triple-A Worcester manager Chad Tracy will act as the interim manager. The Red Sox did at least have the decency to provide transport to the airport for the fired staff, resulting in one of the all-time funniest unintended jokes.
- The Cubs are just about the hottest team in baseball right now, and they are getting reinforcements soon to help their dilapidated pitching staff.
- Zack Wheeler returned from the IL yesterday and promptly led the Phillies to a win against the Braves to snap the team’s 10-game losing streak.
- Our beloved Ty France hit two homeruns last night to get the Padres the win in the first game of the Mexico City Series.
Nick’s pick…
- As an Arizona resident, I don’t have an offseason for golf the way the rest of the country does, but it still does my heart good to see people getting back out there.
