Normally, if we miss something and it’s not a timely story, we just let it go, but occasionally we make an exception, and this is one of those times.
Back on February 7th when UNC upset Duke on Seth Trimble’s last-second three, Jon Scheyer said that his players were assaulted after the game.
For that, he was called a liar. If we recall directly, even the Orange County D.A. Jeff Nieman, said there was “zero evidence” that a Duke staffer was “punched in the face.”
Well, we can’t prove that a staffer,
specifically, was punched in the face, but were punches thrown afterwards?
That’s absolutely true. How do we know?
Because the guilty party confessed the day after he did it.
And not only that, the guilty party is fairly prominent. You’ll probably recognize the name: former Tar Heel Theo Pinson.
Here’s what he said: “I punched one of the Duke players. That’s free licks.”
Not only that, he said it on video and elaborated, saying that he also said that he was in the mix and punched other people.
It’s worth mentioning that UNC A.D. Bubba Cunningham confirmed that someone in the Duke camp was injured.
If anyone knows Nieman, there is obvious and clear evidence of assault, in case he would like to reconsider his previous stance.
