Newcastle United hosts Everton at St James’ Park on Monday night in Matchday 9 of the 2026-27 Premier League season, just four days after the two clubs met in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
Matthias Jaissle’s side enters the game following a 3-1 defeat at Everton on Thursday, which ended Newcastle’s hopes of reaching the League Cup quarterfinals.
The Magpies, eighth in the table with 11 points out of 24, have now lost three of their last four matches across all competitions, although a 2-0 victory
at Crystal Palace last weekend ended a two-game losing streak in the Premier League.
Newcastle has won just one of its four home league games this season and has yet to keep a clean sheet at St James’ Park in any competition. William Osula is doubtful after twisting his ankle against Everton, while Lewis Miley and Matias Fernandez-Pardo face fitness concerns. Ewen Jaouen and Tino Livramento remain unavailable.
Everton enters Monday’s match following consecutive 2-0 Premier League defeats to Chelsea and Arsenal. David Moyes’s side has failed to score in either league fixture and remains without an away victory in the competition this season, recording three draws and one defeat.
The Toffees have nevertheless won three of their last four meetings with Newcastle, including Thursday’s cup tie. Jarrad Branthwaite could return after recovering from a concussion, while Jack Grealish’s availability remains uncertain following his suspension for disciplinary reasons.
