The Kentucky Wildcats took their first loss of the season at Louisville on Tuesday night, 96-88. Mark Pope’s squad trailed for most of the game, and their late-game comeback fell just short.
One of the
best bright spots for the Wildcats at the KFC Yum! Center was senior guard Denzel Aberdeen.
Aberdeen, who got the start at point guard for the Cats, made the most of it. The transfer from Florida ended his night with a career high 26 points on 50% shooting from the field, along with seven rebounds and three assists. He also finished with four 3-pointers made on 10 shots.
The Orlando, Florida, native cut the Wildcats’ deficit in the second half with his hustle and offensive rebounding. Aberdeen found himself open quite a few times behind the arc in the first half, but couldn’t find the bottom of the net.
Aberdeen could find himself in the starting lineup over the next few games as Pitt transfer Jaland Lowe knocks off some early-season rust and works to get his health back to 100%.
The Wildcats move to 2-1 on the season and will be back in action on Friday, November 14th. They will take on Eastern Illinois inside Rupp Arena at 7 p.m. on SECN+.
