We don’t know whether or not it has anything to do with why Rusev hasn’t appeared on WWE television since July (he has worked some house shows, as he did on the Oct. 16-17 Hawaiian swing), but who cares! CJ “Lana” Perry and her husband are having a baby!
The couple shared the news with People today (Oct. 27). They’ve been doing in vitro fertilization (IVF) since last year, and had their embryo transfered on Aug. 10 of this year. Two positive pregnancy tests confirmed the transfer was successful, and now
the couple are ready to tell the world.
“It was the best feeling ever! After everything we’d been through, being able to share this news felt so special,” Perry told people. “The first time we heard his heartbeat, I couldn’t stop giggling. I was so full of gratitude and joy. We’ve been blessed with such a miracle.”
She described their experience with IVF as an “emotional experience” they’re happy to be on the other side of:
“You start with so much hope. As you wait to see how many embryos continue developing through day three and then day five, the numbers can get smaller. Then comes the wait for the genetic testing results. Every stage feels like another hurdle.
“Our first embryo to come back with normal genetic testing results was a boy, and he was the one we transferred. When they gave me the option to find out the sex, I wanted to know immediately! There’s so much uncertainty during IVF that I wanted as much information as possible.”
The couple will be having a son, and the proud papa’s already got a name picked out. Miro Barnyashev (Rusev’s real name) has been waiting a long time for this moment:
“Ten years ago, I had a vision of naming our son Bear, and we chose his middle name to honor my father. Bear will be his first grandson.”
Watching Miro joyously say “the Bear is coming” made my day…
No jokes about El Hijo del Rusev facing off against Maxel Hardy, though. Rusev knows his son’s future already:
“I’m excited for his future at Real Madrid! We have plans to move to Spain to enroll him in the Real Madrid Football Academy!”
Whatever the future holds for Bear, congrats to his mother and dad!
