Today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks recaps the Bills’ 2026 NFL Draft class and hears from a few Bills beat writers on why Bills fans should exercise patience and give Brandon Beane the benefit of the doubt when it comes to judging how
Buffalo fared with its draft picks.
Sizing up the 10 newest Bills
While most teams view the draft as an opportunity to find potential starters in the early rounds and search for valuable depth options in the latter rounds, this year, Brandon Beane appears to have done that process in reverse through his 10-man draft class.
Once again, Beane prioritized defense in the draft, bringing in six defensive players to help shore up a unit that came up short in both its run defense and ability to get after the quarterback down the stretch last season, including a playoff loss to the Denver Broncos. The six defensive players selected equals the most defensive players Beane has drafted during his Buffalo tenure.
In a press conference with reporters at the draft, Brandon Beane said “going into the draft, I thought cornerback was our biggest need,” and Beane addressed the cornerback room by trading up to nab Davison Igbinosun at the end of the second round and adding speedy Missouri cornerback Toriano Pride Jr. in the seventh round.
By the time the draft ended, Beane made seven trades and wound up with three more picks than he had when everything started on Thursday. And with almost every pick, there was a faction of Bills Mafia complaining about the selection. Fans have a right to complain about who their team picks (and who they bypassed in the draft). But with this year’s class, a group that was widely viewed as being light on instant impact players at the top of the draft and heavy on potential contributors in the middle rounds, we explain why Bills fans should trust that Beane knows what he’s doing.
