We’re getting into the quietest time of the baseball year, right after all of the action dies down and before any free agency frenzies break out. Minor news is rolling out, mainly related to option decisions like the one Cody Bellinger made to opt-out of the last year of his deal as expected. There will be much ink spilled over whether the Yankees should give him a new deal or go after Kyle Tucker instead, but now it’s official that he’ll be on the market after a solid year in pinstripes.
It’ll be
a quiet day on the site as well, as we have two stories scheduled (though the team is welcome to announce some fun breaking news any time). Nick takes the morning slot and discusses why retooling the bullpen should be the team’s biggest priority over the offseason after a topsy-turvy year for the unit. Then, Matt jumps in at noon to give out a report card to José Caballero after he made a strong impact off the bench as a basestealing threat and versatile defender.
Questions/Prompts:
1. Baseball America projects Kyle Tucker to earn an 11-year, $360 million deal this offseason. Would you want the Yankees to sign up for that deal?
2. How likely is it that the Yankees and Michael King consider a reunion this winter?
