The college football regular season is over and done, and here comes the postseason. Obviously as an Independent, Notre Dame won’t be participating this weekend, but the impact from some of those games
could be massive. There are multiple scenarios that have the Irish IN and OUT of the college football playoff due to certain outcomes in the conference championship games.
Notre Dame already got a little bit of a data point bump after Boise State beat UNLV Friday night for the Mountain West Conference Championship.
Not all of the games really matter to Notre Dame’s future, but some do. The best case scenario for Notre Dame are wins by Boise State, Georgia, Texas Tech, and Virginia. According to Fanduel Sportsbook, all four of those teams are the favorite.
SEC
Georgia Bulldogs -2.5 VS Alabama Crimson Tide
Big 12
Texas Tech Red Raiders -12.5 VS BYU Cougars
ACC
Virginia Cavaliers VS -3.5 Duke Blue Devils
If these four games go Notre Dame’s way (unlike a long list of games over the past three weeks) the chances of the Irish being a part of the college football playoff are pretty good. FanDuel is currently heavy on the Irish to make it with YES at -375.
