The Juventus goalkeeper revolution for the summer of 2026 is now complete.
And as much as we waited basically two-plus months for the first shoe to drop, the rest of the moves have all been completed within the last week or two — which tells you all you need to know about how this whole situation has changed and developed.
As Juventus have seen both Michele Di Gregorio and Mattia Perin leave the club this week, they have announced the second signing of a goalkeeper on loan with an option to buy come
next summer. First it was Guglielmo Vicario a week ago, and now it is Polish international Kamil Grabara from Wolfsburg, Juventus announced on Tuesday evening. Juventus have paid around €500,000 to sign the 27-year-old Grabara on loan for the 2026-27 season, with an option to buy costing another €11.5 million.
Di Gregorio, last season’s starter who had fallen completely out of favor by the time the 2025-26 campaign came to an end, completed his loan move to Bournemouth earlier Tuesday. Perin, Juve’s backup goalkeeper for much of the past decade, is expected to complete his move to Serie B side Palermo on Wednesday.
The official details of the deal, courtesy of the Juventus press office, are as follows:
Turin, 25 August 2026 – Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that an agreement with VfL Wolfsburg for the temporary acquisition, until 30 June 2027, of the registration rights of the player Kamil Grabara has been reached for a consideration of € 0.5 million, with ancillary costs of € 0.2 million. This consideration may be increased up to a maximum of € 0.3 million over the duration of the player’s contract, upon the achievement of specific objectives.
The agreement further entails the right for Juventus to definitively acquire the player’s registration rights. The agreed consideration for the potential definitive acquisition is € 11.5 million, payable in three financial years.
Grabara arrives at Juventus following two seasons at Wolfsburg, which was relegated to the German second division after a horrible 2025-26 campaign. Wolfsburg’s defense was easily the worst in the league last season, and that could be why it’s tough to get a full read on just how good or bad of a year that Grabara actually had.
But he very much comes at the recommendation of former Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, a fellow Polish international. Szczesny has reportedly recommended Grabara to Juve management in the past, and it is now a move that has taken place a few years after the fact.
Like Vicario, Grabara is looking to have a much better season than he did a few months earlier. And you have to believe he’s arriving in Turin looking to compete with Vicario for the starting job. Who knows what the starting goalkeeper situation will look like a few months from now, but these two new names are the ones competing for a job that is about as wide open as it has been at this point of a season in a long, long time at Juventus.
