Bayern Munich has received a mixed bag of injury news ahead of Wednesday’s DFB-Pokal clash against 1. FC Magdeburg, with several players still working their way back to full fitness.
According to Kicker’s Frank Linkesch (via iMiaSanMia_GER), Luis Díaz—who is dealing with a muscle bundle tear—and Bara Ndiaye will definitely miss Bayern’s matches this week. Jamal Musiala is also likely to remain unavailable, as he has yet to return to team training. However, there is optimism that the Germany international
will get some playing time before the next international break.
Meanwhile, Jonas Urbig is expected to start against Magdeburg on Wednesday. The plan was for the young goalkeeper to feature in the cup regardless of Manuel Neuer’s fitness, giving him another opportunity to impress between the posts.
There is better news regarding Aleksandar Pavlović and Kim Min-jae. According to Bayern Munich’s official website, both players resumed individual training with the ball on the pitch today as they continue their recoveries from calf and knee problems, respectively.
Bayern is gradually getting players back, but Vincent Kompany will still have some selection headaches to navigate this week.
