Sometimes, it is hard to illicit any reaction from anyone at Bayern Munich on just about any topic.
However, after the Bavarians trounced Atalanta in the Champions League (4-1 in leg two, 10-2 on aggregate), board member for sport Max Eberl made a proclamation — it is time for Bayern Munich to break its Champions League schneid against Real Madrid…a sordid history that goes all the way back to 2012.
When asked about it after the game, Eberl had a brief, yet impactful statement as captured by Sky Germany’s
Kerry Hau:
Since nine games (2012), FC Bayern has been waiting for a win against Real Madrid. Max Eberl says after #FCBATA: “It’s about time!” @SkySportDE
Bayern Munich vs. Real Madrid in the Champions League. Does it get any better than this?
This season? Maybe not.
Sure, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are likely in the same realm as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, but with the history between these teams and the talent and depth that will be featured on the pitch, most observers are expecting the Bayern Munich vs. Real Madrid showdown to be electric.
