Barcelona new signing Anthony Gordon says he loves taking penalties after scoring from the spot in a 3-0 win for England over Costa Rica ahead of World Cup 2026.
The winger has an excellent record from when it comes to penalties and says that he relishes the challenge of trying to beat the goalkeeper from 12 yards.
“I was buzzing Kane was off. I was looking round to find him. When I knew he was off, I wanted to take it. I love penalties and I love the pressure of them so buzzing to see that one go
in,” he told ITV.
Gordon also grabbed an assist in the game and says he’s not feeling the pressure ahead of World Cup 2026.
“There’s always pressure when playing for England, as you know there are great players waiting to come on from the bench and make their impact,” he added.
“If you can’t deal with that then you’re at the wrong level. I’m playing with amazing players so they make me look much better.”
Gordon scored all of the 10 penalties he’s taken in the 2025-26 season and may well fancy taking on the job at Barcelona after he links up with his new team-mates.
