Per NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Chargers are signing another tight end who tried out for the team during last week’s rookie minicamp.
Johnny Pascuzzi, a 6’3, 237-pound pass catcher, spent the first three seasons of his collegiate career at the University of Iowa before transferring for his final season to Tulane. In three seasons at Iowa, Pascuzzi caught just a pair of passes for 41 yards and no touchdowns.
In his lone season for the Green Wave, Pascuzzi caught 12 passes for 157 yards and a single touchdown.
Athletically, Pascuzzi is fine enough as a move tight end with a 4.69 40 time to go with a 4.40 short shuttle and a 6.93 three-cone time. He blocks well for his lack of size, brining with him the rock-solid fundamentals that come from playing tight end at Iowa. Pascuzzi also brings special teams experience which is likely his best and only track to making the Chargers final roster in 2026.
