The Wisconsin Badgers were a top contender for four-star in-state forward Donovan Davis, but the 2027 recruit committed to the Iowa State Cyclones earlier this week.
Davis had long been linked to Iowa State, which was the perceived favorite in his recruitment for some time, but the Badgers were in that final mix alongside Nebraska, Iowa, and Marquette.
He becomes the second commitment in what’s turning out to be another strong Iowa State class, joining fellow four-star Josiah Harrington. Intriguingly
enough, Wisconsin and Iowa State are also battling for top target Baboucarr Ann, a four-star recruit from Minnesota.
Without Davis, the Badgers currently have zero commits in the 2027 class, although they’ve still got a few key targets on the board. It’s panning out to be quite a strong in-state group, with a five-star recruit and several four-star players.
Dooney Johnson, who committed to Gonzaga, is seen as a five-star and a top-30 player in the class. Davis, forward Jack Kohnen, guard Jalen Brown, forward Kager Knueppel, and forward Deuce McDuffie are all ranked as four-star recruits on the 247Sports Composite.
Wisconsin will now shift its efforts to the other in-state recruits, having offered all four of the remaining uncommitted top recruits in the class.
