When it comes down to it, neither Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer, nor his protege Jonas Urbig have much say on when they play per the veteran goalkeeper.
Ahead of the team’s Champions League match against Bodø/Glimt, Neuer explained that all of those decisions are out of the hands of the players.
“Neither of us decides that; it’s the coach and the coaching staff. We communicate, there’s no pre-arranged agreement for tomorrow’s game. We both always prepare with the expectation that we might play.
The coach decides the lineup; I have a feeling that I’ll be playing tomorrow, and that’s how I prepare,” said Neuer (as captured by@iMiaSanMia).
Neuer and Urbig give head coach Vincent Kompany an interesting combination. Neuer represents the old guard and is a proven winner, while Urbig is an eager upstart looking to establish himself as a top keeper at a big club.
With both players lasered in on winning and supporting each other, it is one of those good problems to have.
