- The Bavarians have won the Supercup a record 11 times and finished runners-up seven times. Dortmund is second on that list with six wins and runners-up finishes apiece.
- Bayern won the first ever edition of the Supercup since it was renamed in honor of Franz Beckenbauer, beating Stuttgart 2-1 last year.
Three things to know about the Dortmund:
- Dortmund last won the Supercup in 2019 with a 2-0 win. The team they beat? None other than Bayern.
- The last time that Dortmund beat anyone other than Bayern in the Supercup was in 1996. Die Schwarzgelben beat FC Kaiserslautern 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw, the only time they’ve ever won on penalties.
- Dortmund beat Bayern 4-3 in the first Supercup meeting between the two clubs in 1989.
