Marc Cucurella has been the focus of recent transfer rumors linking him with a potential summer departure from Chelsea, but for our left back, that’s all just noise and distraction and unnecessary worry at the moment.
He’s fully focused on his first World Cup (he was not selected in 2022) and on delivering another trophy for Spain after their Euro 2024 triumph. He dined on paella that summer; and he sure would like seconds.
But as far as we’re mostly concerned, the real drama will only begin once the (or
his) World Cup ends, with the 27-year-old’s future very much up in the air. Spain’s big three have all been linked, as have Manchester City, though nothing too concrete has emerged yet.
And if Cucu has his way, those stories will stay on the backburner until next month.
“I don’t want to know anything [regarding my future], I want to enjoy this. It wouldn’t be fair to be thinking about other things. I don’t like to worry; I already have enough to worry about with my family.”

This is to be expected in such situations. Of course that doesn’t mean that his representatives and agents aren’t hard at work with other parties behind the scenes to sort out his future.
Later in the same interview, in a rapid-fire segment, Cucurella figures he’d pay €35-45m for himself in the transfer market and that he would prefer Xabi Alonso over José Mourinho (if he were the president of a club). BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN??! Oh, and also that he will get a tattoo of Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente’s face if they win the World Cup. That’s a bit more permanent than dying his hair red (like after the Euros), but he’s nothing if not a character, that Cucu.
