Veteran place kicker Matt Prater, 41, joined Buffalo’s practice squad ahead of the season opener as an insurance policy for starter Tyler Bass, who is dealing with what the team has described as a left hip/groin injury. Prater played four games for the Arizona Cardinals last year, making all six of his field goals (including a 57-yarder) and all 10 of his extra point attempts before tearing his meniscus in Week 5.
