We live in a college football world of lists, rankings, and countdowns. Many players on Notre Dame’s roster have been talked about and written about over the last few months — so let’s fall in line.
This will be my official Top 20 Notre Dame Football Players ranking. I will unveil each player, and list the three things I like about them. It seems simple enough, but I have no doubt that some of these ratings will be highly criticized, but you can always share your thoughts in the comments below.
#20 Francis Brewu DT
INSTANT
IMPACT
Notre Dame needed an “instant impact” type of player along the defensive line, and in fact, the Irish needed a few of them. After getting some rotational play as a freshman, Brewu started every game for the Pitt Panthers and earned All-ACC Honorable Mention.
SUPER HERO TYPE OF STRONG
Brewu isn’t the biggest defensive tackle out there at 6’1” 285, but his pure strength and power makes him incredible tough and hard to defend along the line. Make no mistake though — he absolutely looks bulky, but his power to measurably size looks unbalanced — in a good way.
PITT PEDIGREE
It’s not so much that he comes from Pitt which has a long tradition of producing really good defensive linemen, it’s that he was recruited once by former Pitt DL coach and current Notre Dame DL coach, Charlie Partridge. He fits the system and the plan for what the Irish want to do along the defensive line and within the defense itself.
