The NFL announced that Washington Commanders DT Daron Payne has been suspended for 1 game without pay. He was ejected from yesterday’s game against the Detroit Lions after he struck WR Amon-Ra St. Brown
and was penalized for unsportsmanlike-conduct. Payne was named a captain by Dan Quinn for the game, and will now miss a game, unless he appeals, and it’s reduced to a fine.
After the game fellow DT Javon Kinlaw said Payne was provoked before the Lions scored, and “it was some bullshit” that the refs didn’t do anything then. Kinlaw was flagged for his own unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the successful two-point conversion. St. Brown was asked about it after the game and said they got into a little scuffle two plays before Payne’s ejection, and then he said something to him after the score. Payne struck St. Brown in front of the refs and was quickly thrown out of the game.
