After Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye were both left out of the PSG squad for yesterday’s French Super Cup squad loss yesterday, the expectation has to be that the players will be on the move soon. Barcola and teammate Mbaye both failed to travel with the team for Sunday’s opening match, and reports abound that the Reds are likely candidates for both players’ signatures.
Earlier today rumors swirled that Mbaye and Liverpool have an agreement on personal terms, and with Barcola’s long-stated interest
in Liverpool the assumption is that financial fine print are what’s left to be agreed upon between clubs.
Though Luis Enrique declined to comment on the potential moves, the earlier signing of Mika Godts suggest PSG are readying for at least one departure. There are rumored departures for Liverpool as well, though the departure of Mohamed Salah leaves a gap that might well take multiple players to fill.
Though the price tag for Barcola especially is eye-watering — the floated number is £145 million — recent rumors of a £150 million agreement for both players feels incredible even if a bit too good to be true.
Though Enrique did not address any player’s potential move specifically, he did make comments on Saturday that suggest moves:
“We are a very young, very ambitious team,” he said. “It is important for us to make changes and look for players who enjoy playing our way and who love playing for PSG. That is very clear to us.
“When a player doesn’t want to come here, or doesn’t have a smile on their face about being here, it is better to find another solution.”
Liverpool, of course, would love to be “another solution.”
