The referee and judges overseeing the Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford super fight scheduled on Sept. 13 in Las Vegas have been selected.
The choices for the officials were approved by the Nevada Athletic Commission during a monthly meeting that took place on Thursday.
Veteran referee Tom Taylor serves as the third man in the ring when Canelo clashes with Crawford in one of the biggest boxing matches in recent history.
He’ll be paid a fee of $25,000 for his services in the bout.
Meanwhile, the judges
scoring the contest are set with Tim Cheatham, Max Deluca and Steve Weisfeld with each official being paid $20,000 for the event.
The selection of the referee and judges comes less than a month away from the highly anticipated fight, which effectively serves as the launching pad for the partnership between the UFC owners at TKO Group Holdings with financial backing from Saudi Arabia, which is headed up by Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority.
UFC CEO Dana White is serving as the promoter for the fight with the event taking place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Crawford is moving up in weight to take on the challenge of facing Canelo, who is widely seen as the biggest name in boxing.
Undefeated during his career with a perfect 41-0 record, Crawford hopes to keep his momentum going when he faces off with Canelo in September.
While the undercard for the event has been announced, the referees and judges overseeing those fights won’t be selected until fight week in Las Vegas.
The entire Canelo vs. Crawford event is set to air live on Netflix.
