The Los Angeles Chargers are facing off against the Houston Texans in Week 9 at SoFi Stadium looking for their first win.
The Chargers have lost their first seven games and are the only winless team left in the league. However, the Chargers can turn things around with a win against the struggling Texans, who are coming off of their bye week. Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Chargers are an underdog by 5.5 points. Let’s take a look at some predictions for the game.
Over/Under: 40.5
The Chargers have not scored an offensive
touchdown in nearly 30 possessions. Meanwhile, the Texans have one of the best defenses on paper in the league. They haven’t performed up to their standard this season, but they remain a big threat on defense. On offense, the Texans have been up and down over the last couple of games, but given how the Chargers have performed recently, this has the feel of a low-scoring affair.
Prediction: Under
Chargers +5.5
FanDuel is giving the Chargers 5.5 points to work with, which would not be enough in any of their losses this season. Playing at home against the Texans does provide a chance for them to beat this streak, but the Texans are coming into this game hungry and desperate, given that they still have playoff hopes alive, even if they are faint.
The Texans should be a little healthier coming off of their bye, and that should give them a chance to come in and beat the Chargers.
Prediction: Texans -5.5
Final Score
Until the Chargers prove they can do something on offense, it’s hard for me to say they can win many football games. This game has the recipe for disaster for the Chargers if they come out flat, as they have over the last couple of weeks.
Texans 20, Chargers 13
