Happy Monday, Fear the Wall!
I hope you had a nice weekend. If you live in the United States, there’s a good chance you had a cold weekend; there have been cold fronts sweeping across the country. I am
ready for spring. Dortmund will be spring-ing back into action on Tuesday against Tottenham (sorry that was terrible). BVB travel to North London to face Thomas Frank’s side, who are in a mild crisis right now of both form and injury. It will be an interesting one for the Black and Yellows, who will hopefully be in good spirits after their late, late win against St. Pauli.
Onto the news.
BVB News
- There is renewed hope that BVB could tie down Nico Schlotterbeck, according to BILD. With top tier options appearing limited and BVB moving toward stability, Dortmund may yet still have a chance to keep their star around.
- Emre Can is just about certain to be receiving a contract extension to 2028, per BILD.
- Dortmund are close to a deal for Cruziero left-back Kaua Prates. THe 17-year old would be earmarked to join up in the summer, per Patrick Berger
- Julian Duranville may finally escape Niko Kovac with a stint in Switzerland at FC Basel.
League News
- Hoffenheim surprised Bayer Leverkusen to sneak into third spot in the Bundesliga, while Bayern thrashed Leipzig 5-1. Good weekend for Dortmund to get back to winning ways.
- Senegal won the AFCON with a late goal against Morocco. Not Bundesliga news but, feels important.
- Dino Toppmoller has been sacked at Eintracht Frankfurt. The Eagles’ horrid defensive form has been cited as the reason. Rumor has it former BVB trainer Marco Rose may be lined up for the gig.
Were Frankfurt right to fire a coach who has brought them pretty significant success in the last few years? Let me know in the comments.
