Chelsea Gray, Allisha Gray, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Plum advanced to the semifinals of Unrivaled’s 1-on-1 Tournament.
Edwin Garcia broke down how the four got here—and guaranteed themselves at least $25,000.
He also predicted who he thinks will capture the coveted $200K, forecasting a Point Gawd triumph over Boston in the final.
What do you think? Will C. Gray best Plum in the battle of former Las Vegas Aces teammates? Does Boston’s size give her the edge over A. Gray the face off between South Carolina Gamecocks?
Both of these semifinal matchups might have A’ja Wilson in shambles once again, with the potential of an all-Gray final really putting the M’VP through it. The championship could test Candace Parker’s allegiances, too, if, as Edwin predicted, her former point guard in Chelsea meets her current podcast partner in Aliyah There’s also the potential for the final to be an all-Phantom affair, with the pick-and-roll pairing of Plum and Boston instead trying to pick each other apart. Or, the championship could become a referendum on the 2017 WNBA Draft if both KP, the No. 1 pick, and Lish, the No. 2 pick, advance.
I think I agree with Edwin, with the more physical stylings of Gray and Boston giving them the edge in the semis. For the champion, which, remember, will be determined by a best-of-three series, I have to go with AB. She has the total package—size, physicality, skill and smarts—that will be too much of the Point Gawd to overcome.
