It feels as though we say this every year, but the New York Giants face a pivotal Week 2 matchup after a disastrous performance in Week 1.
This year, we have to ask whether the Giants’ Week 2 game against the Dallas Cowboys is a “must-win” game. Not only is this a game to decide who will have sole position of fourth in the NFC East (at least for now), but the Giants’ ugly Week 1 loss has the sharks circling.
The Giants were widely predicted to lose against the Washington Commanders, but their 21-6
loss was particularly demoralizing. Fans and media members alike began calling for Jaxson Dart to start before the game was over, and Brian Daboll lost any hope of avoiding the Hot Seat. He announced Monday that the team isn’t making a chance at quarterback for the game, but that might not hold true for beyond Sunday.
Another offensively inept performance like the one against Washington could force drastic changes, and perhaps even put Daboll’s job in serious jeopardy.
On the other hand, it is only Week 2, and even a competitive loss could temper the furor if the offense shows real growth.
So we’ll put it to the Big Blue View community: Is this game a “Must Win” for the Giants? Are they already in playoff mode, should we have patience? Or does it just not matter after Week 1?
