No surprise, but most of Broncos Country voting in our SBNation Reacts poll felt pretty damn good about having our Super Bowl MVP back in the building — and on the field.
Honestly, I don’t know how it wasn’t 100%. What’s the downside?
Miller wasn’t just the best defensive player of his era in Denver — he authored the greatest defensive performance in Broncos history when he carried the franchise to its third Super Bowl title, where he racked up 2.5 sacks and forced two fumbles on the way to winning
MVP.
Not that anyone here needs a reminder of his accomplishments in Denver, but the second overall draft pick in 2011 immediately became one of the NFL’s premier pass rushers, winning Defensive Rookie of the Year and helping transform Denver into a defensive powerhouse that was the reason for its third Lombardi trophy in Super Bowl 50.
Sitting ninth overall in the NFL for sacks (tied at 138.5 with his Broncos’ mentor DeMarcus Ware), Miller ranks first among Broncos’ pass rushers at 110.5 sacks over his 10 years with the team.
But at this point in his career, its Miller’s leadership and team-first mentality are what make this a no-brainer. Commenters on the poll noted not wanting to have Miller if he were going to demand too much money. Personally, I would be shocked if he would even care about the money. He’s got plenty — and it’s not like he’s comparing offers to drive the price up.
Plus, No. 58 has always been a Bronco, and he has made that known throughout his career.
And honestly, who doesn’t want some Von sack dances back?
