Missouri went from playing its most storied historical rival, with more games played against than any other team in the country, to playing someone for the first time. That’s quite the turn around.
Welcome to Columbia, Missouri to the University of Louisiana, formerly called Louisiana-Lafayette. The Ragin’ Cajuns.
I think we’re supposed to say UL now but that just makes me think of Louisville, so we’ll stick with ULL. When ULL has played the SEC in years past, the results have been a little on sided.
In 46 games against 13 different SEC teams the Cajuns have just one solitary win, it came in 1996 against Texas A&M. So they haven’t beaten an SEC team at all, just a Big 12 team that would finish 6-6. Coincidentally A&M played ULL the next season and won 66-0. This isn’t to denegrate the Cajuns, they’re a strong football program with some very recent success under now Florida head coach Billy Napier, and just last year they won 10 games. It’s just a different experience winning in the Sun Belt, and winning against the SEC.
For a more in depth preview on this Cajuns football team, I suggest you read Nate’s preview from earlier in the week.
